New Hires: Say Hello to Eric and Eva
3 min to read ✭ In this post, we’ll learn about our two new hires, what superpower they would want to have and their favorite core value here at Community Boost.
What made you want to apply to Community Boost?
Eric: I was looking for an internship and I’ve been interested in digital marketing and also in the nonprofit space. So when I found Community Boost it just seemed like the perfect combination of both of those interests. Once I did a little more research, it seemed like a youthful company in the city that I’m from doing really fulfilling meaningful work. I just felt like I had to apply.
Eva: I knew a few of the employees here at Community Boost, which was how I originally found the job posting. One of them had posted it on LinkedIn. I saw that the title was Social Media Coordinator, which was what I was looking for. So I learned a little bit more about the position and I really thought that it would be a great culture fit. For me, a job isn’t just the actual work you’re doing, but also the overall environment that you’re in. You spend so much time with these people and Community Boost really had a great combination of both.
What are you most looking forward to in your time here?
Eric: I’m definitely looking forward to finishing up the training and then learning as much as I can about digital marketing. Then actually being able to get my hands dirty and really help some of these nonprofits tackle some of their biggest issues and see some actual action and results in the ten weeks that I’m here.
Eva: I am really looking forward to creating relationships with the team and also being able to help nonprofits with their social media. I know that social is hard and it takes a lot of work. Everyone has different ways they create their content, but I really do believe that by using social you can increase the reach of your message. My goal here really is to let even more people know about these amazing nonprofits that we get to work with.
What is one thing you’ve learned so far?
Eric: Just from being in this environment I’ve learned how important it is to put systems in place. If you’re working in a business or running a business it is really important to keep yourself accountable and be as productive as possible. That’s something that Community Boost does really well that I haven’t seen as much in other companies I’ve interned at.
Eva: I was going to say a similar thing with organization. Everything here is extremely organized and I appreciate that everybody is always very on top of all of their tasks. This is really important for a company, especially when there are so many things where people have to work together to accomplish them. Having these systems in place makes everything run much more smoothly for us and for our clients.
What is one thing your coworkers might not know about you?
Eric: I’m basically addicted to the show Chef’s Table on Netflix. It’s my favorite show. There is incredible cinematography combined with incredible food.
Eva: I’m obsessed with The Great British Bake Off if we’re talking Netflix shows, that’s my favorite for sure. I also like to bake in my spare time, which some people might not know.
What is your favorite core value of Community Boost?
Eric: My favorite is to be bold. I think you see that in the way that companies are started and where they were founded. Then going forward in the way they act, tackling all these new obstacles. It’s never timid. It’s always let’s go out, let’s do as much as we can to help these nonprofits as much as possible and we’re not going to back off.
Eva: Mine would be that we are transparent. I think that’s really important for a company at all levels of the company. There are a lot of companies where maybe you don’t really know what’s going on with management or there are things that are kept from employees who at different levels, but here everybody is open with everybody else about anything regarding the company. You can ask a question about anything that you want and you will get a true and honest answer every single time.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Eric: I’d want to be able to teleport. The real answer is that I’d want to make any wish come true, but I feel like that’s cheating when it comes to superpowers. Teleporting would be sweet though. I’d be able to go anywhere for lunch and then just teleport back.
Eva: It’d be very interesting to be able to read people’s minds and see what they’re really thinking. Going back to transparency because people can say whatever they want, but you don’t necessarily know if it’s true sometimes when you’re talking to people. So I feel like to actually have mind-reading powers and be able to know what they’re really thinking would be extremely insightful.
