Breaking into New Markets with Moonlight Cultural Foundation

With a new set of shows for their 2018 season, Moonlight Cultural Foundation needed a fresh strategy to break into unexplored markets. The Google Ad Grant is a digital marketing grant provided by Google that gives nonprofit organizations $10,000 per month to advertise on behalf of their mission. With this new advertising tool under their belt, Moonlight Cultural Foundation was able to target theatre lovers around San Diego that hadn’t heard about their 2018 season. After creating a best in class Google Ads campaign to target these people, Moonlight Cultural Foundation was soon sending upwards of 5,000 interested ticket buyers to their site monthly.

Moonlight’s ads made it to the #1 spot on Google for San Diego Shows and San Diego Theatres searches.

They also had 45.21% of all impression share during the peak of their 2018 season

75% of site traffic during this period was made up of new users that hadn’t been on the site before

Ongoing paid ad testing and bidding strategies increased traffic to their ticket pages by 12%
